We spent the night in Glasgow and headed for Loch Lomond. "By yon bonnie banks..." and all that. The sun wasn't shining bright when we got there. As a matter of fact, it was a downpour. But, by the time we got started it eased off, and the sun even came out for a while.
The morning was spent doing teambuilding activities. The delegates had a variety of problems to solve. They learned how much easier it is to work together and communicate. They untied a knot in a rope while holding onto it as a team. They figured out how move a small barrel-shaped object out of a ring by the use of a rope.
We also went canoeing on the lake. We played several skill games that used good paddling skills as well as teamwork. It was a blast!
We ate lunch at a little shop on Loch Lomond called the Ceramic Cafe. The delegates painted a small bisque piece while the ate their lunch.
After lunch we traveled around Loch Lomond to get to our next destination. It is HUGE, and so beautiful. It started to rain again, so there was bit of a mist in the mountains. It was exactly how I pictured Scotland.
The scenery on the way to the hotel was stunning. Along the way we made two stops. One was in Glencoe, where we learned about the MacDonald massacre. The second was at the Commando Memorial, commemorating the WWII vets who trained nearby.
Our hotel for the next three nights is in Spean Bridge, which is outside of Ft. William. It sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in Scotland (pictured above).
We're all excited about the train ride we'll be taking tomorrow.
